Eadweard Muybridge was the pioneer of gait analysis. Using stop motion photography, he recorded many images of people and animals in motion. Some of his images were taken using two and three camera angles to record detailed motion of the subject. Particularly interesting are these images demonstrating that a horse at a gallop has periods where all four feet are off the ground or where it has only one foot in contact with the ground.

These webcasts are very well done, and contain a lot of commentary to help you understand the various steps of the procedure. Note that they are real, not\ animated. If you cannot stand the sight of blood, please don't view these.
